Measuring companies’ alignment with climate and biodiversity plans

This project aims to use natural language processing and transformers to identify the alignment of public companies with SDGs and climate and biodiversity action plans, such as those formulated by the 2015 Paris Agreement and the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD)’s Nature-Related Risk and Opportunity Management and Disclosure Framework. It will create a semantic space (i.e., axes) onto which corporate sustainability reports will be projected and scored by using the SDG, and climate and biodiversity action plans descriptions as a starting point. This will enable direct evaluation by comparing companies’ reports alignment with sustainability and climate action plans and improve the interpretability and explainability of the models. The project will enable an investigation of the similarities and differences of the models’ outputs against the scores given by leading ESG providers.
